Feasts and Festivals
In Wexford Educate Together we celebrate feasts and festivals from around the world throughout the year. This helps us to gain an insight into and understanding of lots of different belief systems, people and cultures which shape the world around us.
Parents, if you have any ideas, stories, songs, artefacts or anything else relating to any of these topics please let me know so that we can make our celebrations as wonderful as possible for the children.
Thank you,
Selina

December- Hannukah!
We loved learning about some Jewish traditions around this time of year! We were delighted when Ray spoke to us about some Jewish traditions and showed us some real Jewish artefacts! We loved looking at them in our hallway display! We played Dreidl which is a game children love to play at Hannukah!

November-Road Safety
We learned all about using our roads safely. We learned the Safe Cross Code, made great posters and the Community Garda even paid us a visit!!
Our message was ‘BE SAFE, BE SEEN’ and the children in Aileen’s class partook in the ‘High-Glo Silver’ campaign which promotes the use of high visibility gear. All the girls and boys each received a high visibility vest and armband to wear on these dark evenings when out cycling or walking. Parents have also received a copy of the ‘Seatbelt Safety’ DVD from the Road Safety Authority- if you have not received a copy please call to the office for your complimentary DVD!
Take a look at some of our photos from the month and find out what happened when Garda Murphy paid us a visit! You can listen to the Safe Cross Code while you watch- some mams or dads may remember learning this version in school and it’s still the best!!

October- Harvest!
Harvest is a beautiful time of year when the leaves change hue and the sights and sound of Autumn are all around- it really is a feast of the senses. Our Harvest activities included bread-making, apple tart baking and soup making! We also took a trip to Johnstown Castle to see the seasonal changes at firsthand!
