Class of 2011/2012
January
Welcome to 2012 everyone!! We are kicking the New Year off with a splash here in Junior and Senior Infants. Our big books this month are ‘The Pig in the Pond’ and ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We are learning all about houses and homes and we are designing amazing houses for the three little piggies!!! Our houses are wolf-proof, cosy and just the right fit for the three pigs!! We have also been learning about our Rights and Responsibilities. Fiona from Amnesty Ireland visited our school and spoke to us about our rights. We created beautiful pictures together based on the theme ‘Imagine if…’ Take a look at this great video from Amnesty International.
December
We are busy little elves this month!! We are celebrating Hannukah and learning some Jewish customs and traditions! Many thanks to Ray Pitcher whose beautiful Jewish artefacts are helping us to learn about this festival of lights! Jewish children play a game called Dreidl at this time of year and we have learned how to play this fun game too!
We are also busily preparing for our seasonal craft fair! We have been busy printing beautiful wrapping paper and making some cards. We are like mini-apprentices and have some up with prices for our cards and gift wrap! Take a look at us busily working in our workshop…..classroom!!!

November
We are learning about owls this month! Our big book is ‘Owl Babies’ by Martin Waddell. We love this story about three brave baby owls who wait for their mummy owl to return. We got a lovely surprise when four owls came to visit us from Rathwood! We even got the chance to hold the owls. The biggest owl was an eagle owl called ‘The Professor’, he was huge and when he flapped his wings they were almost as wide as our whiteboard!! Take a look at our photos… I think you’ll agree that we had a hoot of a time!!!

November is Road Safety Month at Wexford Educate Together! We are learning all about how to be responsible road users. We will be learning the Safe Cross Code and the Gardaí will also be visiting us! Take a look at us modelling our high visibility vests and see what happened when Garda Murphy paid us a visit!!

We can’t wait for Maths Week next week. We will be doing lots of fun maths activities, trails and games. If you would like to help out please let us know!
We are learning all about harvest this month- check out our harvest display in the hallway! We collected lots of interesting leaves, conkers, acorns and some very tasty harvest fruit and vegetables from our gardens!

Our BIG book this month is ‘The Little Red Hen’ so we decided to be like Little Red and make our own bread! Nicola, John’s mammy helped us to make delicious breadsticks! We loved mixing the ingredients and kneading and rolling the dough! We loved eating our bread even more!! September has been a very busy month for all of us here at Wexford ETNS. We would like to welcome all the new girls and boys to our class! Junior Infants have settled in really well and are making new friends already! Senior Infants are really enjoying being back and are looking so grown up after the summer holidays! We can’t wait to learn lots of new things this year
