Class of 2010/2011
Merry March!
-Lots happening this month! We are celebrating Saint Patrick and we are also having our first Muslim celebration in the school as we celebrate Eid! Take a look at the lovely tiles made by Aileen and Maria’s classes in our Islam display! Here in Selina’s class we made a mosque from recycled materials! We all helped to papier maché and paint the mosque.
-We were so lucky to have gotten a sneak preview of the wonderful creations by the team at Buí Bolg when we took a trip to their studios last week! We saw the amazing phoenix which will take centre stage at the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin and lots of other groovy things! Thanks to Eddie, Lucy, Colm and all the team for making us feel so welcome and best of luck in the parade!! Take a look at the pictures of the day here!

February Fever
-We are very busy this month in Junior and Senior Infants. The Gardaí paid us a visit earlier this month to tell us all about their work in the community. Check out our homepage to see the photos from the day! Some of us have been inspired to become Gardaí following the visit!
-Speaking of inspring people, we had a local author Karen Nolan in to speak to us about her book ‘Egg and Storm’. Karen read us her story which is about a crow and a seagull who become friends despite being very different. Karen even showed us some original illustrations from the book and the storyboards she used to prepare her book. We have been really inspired to write our own stories now and cant wait to put pencil to paper!!

-Love was in the air on Feb. 14th in Wexford Educate Together. The teachers, Ann and Leanne were surprised with beautiful flowers from all the moms and dads. A big thank you to everyone for such a lovely treat! We made special treats for our Valentines in school too!! We made Barfi, which is a cocunut sweet which originated in India! We tried not to lick our fingers while making the sweets but some of us couldn’t resist and had a little taste when teacher wasn’t looking!! We wrapped up our sweets and put them in special boxes for our lucky Valentine!!
January News!!
-Our Christmas play finally made it to the stage at North End on Friday 14th Jan. We had to postpone our show due to the snowy weather so we were delighted to be able to sing all our songs and wear our lovely costumes! We all shone like stars in the show and we put in so much hard work in the week before the show! We’re looking forward to next years show already!!
- We have new group names!! We chose dinosaur names much to teacher’s delight- now if only she could remember them!! Our Jurassic fantastic table names are; Stegosauras, pterodactyl, t-rex, brachiosauras and triceratops- phew!!
-We are learning all about what it means to be a good listener and how important it is to be listened to also! We are learning about the work of the Ombudsman for Children whose job is to listen to what children have to say all over Ireland.
-Print print print print!!- we have been printing in Art! We used different fruit and vegetables to create wonderful patterns. We experimented with colour and pattern first and then chose a final design! We’re delighted with the results and had great fun!!
-Greenies- we are helping out in our schools quest to schieve our first Green Flag! We now have recycling bins and a compost bin in our classroom. We are going to work really hard to reduce, reuse and recycle!!
That Friday Feelin’!!
We are delighted to begin our second term and a brand new year here at Wexford Educate Together. We are kicking off the new year with the return of our story-time sessiúns on Friday afternoons. If you are interested in taking part please let me know! This is a lovely way for us all to end the week and the children really love to see family members in their classroom! The sessions are not limited to stories alone, you can teach us a new song/dance/poem, play some music for us, tell us some jokes or show us a special skill you have!
Welcome Back

Well done to all the girls and boys in Junior Infants who started school on Tuesday 1st of September. You are all settling in really well and should be very proud of yourselves!
Senior Infants have also done so well since returning to school! Some are requesting homework already and seem to be relishing the new challenges and learning ahead for this year! Selina is so proud of you and it is so lovely to see how you've all gotten so tall and grown up during the summer break!
We look forward to a great year together here in the Infant class at Wexford Educate Together.
Coming soon: We will restart our Friday afternoon storytime sessions which were a big hit last year. A parent reads their favourite story to the class, so if you would like to become involved please let me know!!
